Overall, I love the idea of this website. The consumer visits the Positive Luxury website to access information about top brands that are leading the way in environmental products. Their mission is easy to understand; informed consumers help build a better brand.

Until recently, the words luxury and sustainability were never really friends. The sustainability movement has influenced many brands to review their production process and develop better products for both consumers and the planet. This website helps promote the brands that are making a serious effort to develop quality products that consumers can purchase guilt free. The wonderful part about this website is that it’s open to anyone who is curious about taking a step towards sustainable products. Kudos, Diana Verde Nieto!

Today, thinking on the green side of things, I have stumbled on to an interesting trend article by Rebecca Milner on www.cscoutjapan.com. The article was about a beer and beverage giant in Japan, Suntory and their recent green campaign. It’s called Suntory “Midorie”. It means green in Japanese. The campaign is to centered around Suntory’s effort to create or bring in more green space into the urban city of Tokyo. For this purpose, the company has developed a new synthetic soil that replaces natural soil. It’s called “pafcal”. It’s thin, light and easy maintenance. You can put it on the roof tops and walls of the inner city to promote fresh air and green-space.

It was launched 3rd of March 2009. But this isn’t a new idea, architects like Emilio Ambasz, have been promoting this type of design for decades. You can find examples of his green designs here:

It’s really great not to see an example of a beverage company deciding to go green and making a business out of it. Hope this inspires people to be creative and to innovate illustrating that by going green, you can have your cake and eat it too.
